Back to Newfoundland
After another windy night, we realized that we knew when the air conditioner cover came off, just not the time and place. While we were driving along yesterday, we heard a thump from the back of the van that we didn’t recognize. Since it seemed to come from inside the van, we figured it was just something shifting as we went over a bump. It was undoubtedly the cover coming off . Unfortunately, neither of us could remember when or where it happened.
The ferry ride was uneventful until we made landfall. Almost immediately alerts on both of our phones started buzzing. There was a "Presidential Emergency" warning that a wildfire was approaching Musgrave Harbour and the entire town was to be immediately evacuated. Musgrave Harbour was not far from the ferry terminal. Luckily we were going in the opposite direction and were unaffected. Interestingly the alert appeared on my phone which has been unable to get service this entire trip. When it says emergency service only, it is true.
The rest of the day was a driving day. I figured we would go until about an hour before sunset or when we reached the ferry to Nova Scotia. We made it to the ferry expecting to wait overnight, but the ferry was there for the 23:45 sailing. We are now just waiting in line 12 along with many other cars and RVs for the seven-hour overnight sailing.
