The Heat Of The North
Short entry as it was another rest day.
After breakfast we went for a birdwalk and hike along a portion of the Newman Sound Coastal Trail which runs from the campground to the visitor center and back and is almost 10 km round trip. We did only about 3.5 km. It was not very birdy and it was getting warm. The best of our few species was a pair of Canada Jays just as we cam off the trail. There was also a large flock of yellowlegs in the shallows of the sound.
Once we got back to Speedy, it was time to do nothing. Our sunny site was warming up, so we put our chairs in the shade and just hung around as the temperature approached 90° F. We even ran Speedy's air conditioner in the afternoon to cool it down a little before dinner.
A lot of reading, a quiet lunch, an afternoon shower and an early dinner to get ready to depart in the morning.
