Two highlights: A new rest area in Tennessee that is also a 5 Megawatt solar farm and a rather unusual crash in Oklahoma in which no one was hurt...amazingly,
A big construction dump truck broke its front suspension and collapsed the wheel on I-40, went across the median and ended up in the middle of the Westbound side. It fortunately didn’t hit any oncoming traffic. We arrived heading west just after it happened and managed to squeeze by in the breakdown lane before the traffic backed up.
We had already seen two crashes on the eastbound side where traffic was stopped for over a mile in each case.
We have stopped at the Gentry Creek COE campground on Eufala Lake, our first quiet, dark night, with the promise of hot showers in the morning. We picked up decent Mexican food at El Jarocho in Chacotah on the way to camp.
Tomorrow Texas and maybe even into New Mexico.
