A Rainy Day Of Chores
It was another showers and laundry day as we left the campground early to go back into Haines. It was raining more than ever during our stay in Haines. There were no bears or eagles to be seen in the rain as wedrove to town
They have a nice clean laundromat there and like most in Alaska, they also have showers available. We took advantage of both the showers and the laundry.
While the our clothes were being washed, I stopped at the local gas station to fuel up and top off our propane tanks. We have been using more propane than normal as we have been running the furnace to keep warm and dry in Speedy.
We stopped for lunch in a car park on the harbor and just made our own sandwiches to enjoy while looking out at the large cruise ship docked off Fort Seward. According to the local newspaper, Haines gets four cruise ships a week, two small ones (we saw one of those yesterday), and two large ones.
With nothing more to keep us in town in the rain we went back to camp early and spent the afternoon reading. Still no bears were seen...especially in the campground.
