These Muck Boots Actually Work
It was a fine day today. Blue sky returned and the weather was pleasant.Sally piled in with Ellen and I to go to Cottonwood Slough to look for birds. Harry stayed back at the campground.
The fellow at the Jasper NP visitor center said the the hikes on the Pyramid Bench would be muddy. This was the location of the slough, so we all donned our new Muck Boots and headed down the trail. Yes, it was muddy.
With the boots, we had no trouble walking out onto the wet edges of the marsh to get better views...and they were great views, with the marsh and pools in the foreground and the mountains, clouds and blue sky in the background. And there were birds, too.
Several types of ducks were in the ponds and various hard-to-see small birds were in the bushes and woods surrounding the marsh. Ellen did manage to find a Tennessee Warbler, a life bird for her.
We headed back into town at lunchtime and met up with Harry at the local market. After a quick lunch, it was time for a bit of provisioning. As Ellen and Sally shopped, Harry and I brought the vans to the next door gas station to fuel-up and top up propane tanks. We then went our separate ways to do a bit more shopping.
It was then back to Wapiti Campground for showers and grilled steaks all round for dinner outside.
