Day 33 — Finally Out Of Texas

A short post for a travel day.Texas is Big!

We made an early start this morning on the last potion of our spring trip—we are on the way to Arizona. We made it as far as Deming, New Mexico. It was mostly a travel day with only stops in Alpine and El Paso. After all the traveling around Big Bend we needed a fuel and coffee stop in Alpine, a city with almost as many cafes as gas stations. We had good coffee at Cedar Coffee & Supply, a small specialty coffee bar. The latte was excellent, Ellen thought the fresh brewed drip coffee a bit acidic. The diesel fuel was just fine from the Stripes station.

It was another 200 miles to El Paso. We stopped there to find a case for Ellen's new phone. When her Nexus died, Google sent her a new phone, but they sent the next generation of moderately priced phones for Project Fi, a Moto X4. We made three stops before finding a case that fit at the Sprint store.

About 25 miles later we were finally out of Texas and into New Mexico. We drove as far as Deming and the Escapees Dreamcatcher RV Park. It is run by the Escapees, a club of RVing full-timers, but is open to all. It is a plain graveled area with lots of space between the sites and trees planted at each site. We have a nice shady tree that put our balky refrigerator in the shade. We spent the late afternoon, doing laundry, dumping the tanks and filling our water tank.

After take-out Tacos and Quesadillas from the restaurant next door, we called it a day.
