Day 4 - A Bit More Springlike

The overnight rain wasn’t particularly heavy, but continued into the morning. We got an early start for the short drive to Davis Bayou, arriving well before the Vistor Center. We waited out the time in Speedy and the VC opened and the rain stopped at about the same time.

It was a bit too early to check into the campground, so it was a morning of birding around the visitor center area along the short trails in the area. It was a bit slow at first, but we found a few birds, both in the trees and in the Bayou. The new birds included the first of many noisy Brown Thrashers. 

After lunch back in Speedy, we were able to check in a found that we had reserved an excellent site. The weather had improved as well and our afternoon birdwalk was sunny and warm. This was followed by well needed showers in the new (since our last visit) shower building.

It was time for some reading and dinner and an early night.
