Quiet day at the beach
It was time to get out the spotting scopes for a morning bird walk along the beach. It was mostly gulls with a few identifiable Pigeon Guillemots seen floating offshore.
As I mentioned yesterday, we have been having refrigerator problems again. So, yesterday afternoon, I went off on my bike and got a block of ice from a local convenience store to turn the refrigerator into an icebox. It seems to be working as the temperature has gone down into the 30s and the freezer is back near zero. We will try this until the ice runs out. We are hoping that it was the really hot days and we can get the temperature stabilized now that it is a bit cooler.
It was a quiet afternoon as Ellen and Sally walked along the beach side trail for some good birding. Harry and I rode bikes up a multi-use trail? for about a five mile ride through the woods. The multiple uses must have been hiking and walking. About a mile into the ride the trail turned into a single-track that went straight uphill among large roots and rocks. Maybe some 20-something mountain bikers could ride it but we did a fair amount of walking.
While still dim it was nice enough for another outdoor dinner.
