It was early when Harry and Sally (and Nina) arrived at our house, just as we were finishing shutting up the house. Everything we needed...and then some...was loaded in Speedy. It was a pretty uneventful ride to the Adirondacks, our goal for the day. Being a Sunday, traffic was light on Rte 128 and on the Mass Pike. We drove the entire length of the turnpike into New York and on to I-87 North, only stopping once in the morning for fuel and coffee and again in Clifton Park, NY at a park&ride lot for lunch.
We finally got off the boring Interstes just north of Lake Placid and onto the quieter, twisty two-lane road into the Adirondack State Park. Ellen took over driving a few milesin and had the fun of driving the back roads with Speedy.
We've stopped at Lake Eaton State Park, just beyond the town of Long Lake, where we have a piar of quiet lakeside campsites. They seem to have come with a resident Loon just off the shoreline and an ample supply of black flies. Rain is predicted for the night, so we will all be congregating in Speedy for dinner.
Tomorrow, it is off to Canada.
