We decided to drive another hour to Amarillo as it was getting dark. Just after we left the rest area we started to drive through an enormous wind farm. It stretched neary 30 miles along the road and as far as we could off to the north. There must have been at least a thousand turbines. The stangest thing was the lighting. Each turbine had a bright red warning light on the nacelle (FAA required I suspect) and they all blinked synchronously. All thr red lights on, all the red lights off for as far as we could see. I can imagine what it looked like from the air.
It was about 7pm when we pulled into the Amarillo Cracker Barrel for another inexpensive dinner an free parking overnight. Tomorrow it is on to New Mexico.
