Sunday, a new month and a sunny spring day in Cades Cove. It was a good time to break out the motorcycles again. We took a short ride along the twisty road from Cades Cove to Townsend and back. We met up with Harry and Sally at the Heritage Museum in Townsend. Unfortunately, we were a bit early and it hadn't opened yet.
As it was almost lunch time, we decided to meet up at the local BBQ restaurant which just opened for the season. They had an errand to do and I wanted to check out a local dulcimer shop (which turned out to be closed on Sunday), so we rode over to the restaurant and waited for them. It was good BBQ. we each had the pulled pork in some form. They had a selection of sauces available, so I asked for some of each. The spicy was the best of them.
After lunch it was back to the museum. It was a pretty small museum, but quite nicely done, tracking the history of the area from prehistoric times to the present. The highlight of the museum was its collection of rural buildings an a small village out back.
After the museum, it was back up the twisties to the campground and a lazy afternoon.
