Happy Easter

Easter Sunday started bright and cool. It's much cooler at 3500 ft in Northern Va than at 500 ft in southern Tennessee. It was about 40° overnight.


It was a relatively mellow day. We moved campsites as the weekend crowds pulled out, finding a pair of sites at the northern end of the campground that overlooked Stanley and Luray down in the valley outside the park. We once again found a pull-through site, although we had to wait. The couple in the site were leaving, but took their time. We finally asked them to leave about an hour after the official checkout time.

Ellen and Sally (and Nina) went for a "short walk" in the afternoon, starting out on the Appalachian Trail that ran just behind our campsite. It turned out that they did the entire Lewis Falls Loop, about 4.5 miles.

I took a different loop, taking out the motorcycle and riding up along Skyline Drive to the Skylands Resort to get a restaurant menu (at least that was the excuse). It was about a 20 mile ride. Only a few deer were seen, but they were also wandering through the campsite.
