Point Wolfe, Fundy NP

It was quite a long drive from PEI to Fundy National Park (fortunately uneventful, with no backups), so we decided to spend a couple of days there. After looking at what was available at the Headquarters Campground, we decided to go back up to the Point Wolfe Campground where we have stayed in the past. After a bit of misunderstanding with the obviously new registration attendant, we finally ended up in the seviced area, a long line of open sites.  It was an okay site, our neighbors decided to build a very smoky campfire that blew right into Speedy. It was not a pleasant night. 

On the 4th we were able to move across the road to a small area of sites that were set apart and backed up to the woods. It was much more pleasant. It also had much more pleasant neighbors. One one side were a couple in Winnebago Solis, a Promaster-based camper van about the same size as Speedy. It was laid out fairly well 

, but had much less storage. This couple, Susan and Bob, had retired in 2022 and have been full-timing in it since then. A much more crowded state than Speedy. We have done long trips in both our Roadtreks, and never seemed that filled, but both had more storage…and we have the cargo box for really long trips.

On the other side were an equally friendly couple in an Aliner trailer. They had a very calm and friendly brown English Lab, named Seafire. Never got their names though. They only lived a couple of hours from the park and came often, taking the same site if they could.

We went for a short walk down to the covered bridge and the trail by its parking lot. It was pretty successful birding for a midday walk. The highlight was a bird we could hear clearly, but never saw, a Mourning Warbler. Ellen had seen one before, but I have not. So I was a bit disappointed that we couldn’t get it into the open…not on my life list yet.
