On to Campobello

After Fundy National Park, we knew that we could get to Maine from there, but as it was the Independence Day holiday weekend, it seemed likely that campgrounds in Maine would be fully booked. Where to go next?

The Herring Cove Provincial Park is on Campobello Island which is in New Brunswick. It wasn’t Independence Day in Canada. Although Campobello is usually accessed over a bridge from Lubec, ME, it can also be reached directly from Canada via two ferries …St. George to Deer Island, a drive across the island and then Deer Island to Campobello. So that was the route we took.

It was a pretty gray drive from Fundy, but we got there, with a grocery and a coffee stop included, in time for lunch. After lunch overlooking the beach, we took a site with electricity which was only slightly in the woods. I was a bit knackered after the drive, but Ellen had enough energy for walk around the park.

As it got more amd more damp, we took advantage of the electricity to keep Speedy warm and dry as the weather worsened.

Then it started to rain.
