On Wednesday, the 28th we left Elkmont and headed west to Cades Cove Campground. After setting up in the campground, se set off for the town of Townsend to take showers (none in the park) and replenish our propane and some provisions. We also stopped at a local restaurant for a lunch of catfish sandwiches and fried green tomatoes.
Back at the campground we chatted with our neighbors, two brothers from the western corner of South Carolina. They had been coming to the park and staying mostly in the Cades Cove campground at least annually for the last 30 years. They gave us lots of tips about the area.
Another good day in the Smokies.
