Laundry Day

The Friday forecast was for likely rain, so we decided it was a good day for another trip into Townsend. It was back to the Big Meadow Family Campground to do laundry and take another shower with lots of hot water. After the laundry, it was off to the Kroger Market in Pigeon Forge for more groceries. Although the Townsend IGA had some basics, it was pretty small, so we opted to find a larger market.

After the traffic we encountered going through Pigeon Forge last year, we were determined not to go there again. But I noticed that there was a back road from Townsend that passed the Kroger Supermarket, before it reached the main road in Pigeon Forge. So off we went. It was a bit of a hilly twisty road but the traffic was nearly non-existant, so it was a pleasant ride.
On the way back, however, the forecast rain arrived, making the twisty hills a bit more exciting in Speedy. Fortunately, we'd left the trailer behind. Back through Townsend and then more twisties to the Cades Cove campground once again.
As the rain continued, we invited harry and Sally to dine with us in Speedy. It was an experiment. The back of the van, where the bed is, converts to a table with bench seating on each side. In theory, it could seat four. I was unsure, but we tried it anyway. The bedding was stored up on the driver's seat and it all seemed to it was a little cramped for foot room for those of us at the back, but pretty comfortable. A good evening and a good dinner was had by all, even with the rain.
