Yesterday was expected to be another quiet day as backs continued to heal. Ellen's was doing better than mine. Since our campsite was reserved for Friday, we moved to the next one over which we have through Tuesday. I hope that we will have healed enough to see some more sights and get in a walk or two before then.
We received a phone call from our friends Harry and Sally, who with other friends, Tom and Jean, were also heading to Gulf Islands National Seashore, where we were to meet up next Thursday. They left a few days behind us and were planning to take an inland route via Alabama. Tornado warnings along their route intervened and they decided to head over to the coast and down I-95. They said they were going to stop at a state park in South Carolina last night. It turned out that the park was only 50 miles due west of us and the distance to here was about the same as to there. There were a few sites available here, so I suggested they join us, which they did.
It's always good to have a few friends around. We had a good afternoon showing off Buck Hall, visiting, dinner and dessert. They headed on to Georgia today, since the campground here is filled through the weekend--but they left the thunderstorm and tornado warnings with us.
Today started sunny, but afternoon thunderstorms were forecast. We loaded the motorcycles back into the trailer, disconnected it from Speedy and took the van to do some shopping at the Charleston Whole Foods. My back is still too sore for riding. By the time we got back to the campground, the wind was up, the sky was completely gray and thunder could be heard. A quick look at the Weather Underground and a tornado watch for our area popped up.
We've still had no rain, but can here the thunder. The weather radar doesn't show any severe activity heading at us, so we are just sitting and waiting.
